Also known as plastic resin glues, urea/formaldehyde (UF) adhesives are the most widely used adhesives in the wood products industry.
They are classified as thermosetting polymers and are produced by a condensation polymerization reaction between urea and formaldehyde.
These UF polymers have proven to be very good adhesives for wooden materials.
They have an excellent resistance to high temperatures and humidity therefore they are ideal for processing veneered panels, which can be sanded or painted in ovens at high temperatures without the glue softening.
UF resins and adhesives are available both in liquid and powder form. As a ready-to-use mixed urea formaldehyde powder glue, it needs to be combined with water to form a smooth, ready-to-apply adhesive.
